The fish was accurately measured and released. I landed a 79cm grunter (fork length) last year in Sedgefield. Struisbaai Plaat and Suiderstrand, Kanon and boggomsbaai 45mm KFGH, Kingfisher braid Custom Built Chris Uys. Mr Miyagison, do you think they would be able to correct or "align" their Data more, with both weight And Length, possibly ? įrankly I enjoy having the Length, as This now gives you more Data, about something you have just Let go. The only way i would hope for them to Retain it's accuracy, is for both weight and Length to be obtained from time to time, once again though with people Owning different Scales etc that would Contain variables in it too. When a fish is outside the measured range, the curve is extrapolated, which can lead to some 'interesting' results, as the curve tends to become exponential try it with an 'impossible' fish, like a 90cm streepie!. I would guess that the deviation for an individual could be in the region of +20% to - 20%. The conversions are not'spot on' accurate for an individual fish, but are statistically accurate for a species. The tables are not calculations, but based on actual weights plotted against length on a graph. Last edited on Wed Apr 30th, 2014 07:00 pm by Def-e-nitionĭaiwa sl50,saltist 20/40 TLD ens. It's the only way i can See it ever being aligned Accurately. Over the back for bags - going to Cause discrepencies, as I would imagine that the updates are done to the Measurement system Through dead fish being weighed, etc, or live ones being Measured And weighed. Īnglers Lose focus and try to always measure the fish as Long As possible, and as What suits them. Same Fish Measured properly Will weigh Less. Over The Top, on the "boggel", to the Notch- still makes it an Off Reading. If you decide to keep a trophy fish, weigh it on a certified scale, take a photo of the fish on scale as to stop any "experts" in questioning the fishes weight. I have also seen most anglers measure the fish or shark over the body and to the tip of the tail, getting the wrong weight. For galjoen ,steenbras, mussel cracker in particuliar, the length alone cannot determine the weight accurately.ĭo you have any thoughts about this or some input, to improve the estimates?īM G3, Seagrand II, Others, Shimano reelsġ7kg Cracker, 11.8kg Cracker, 8kg Cracker, 7kg Steenie we have all seen these elongated fish, but are very short across the width and i can only assume the weight of the fish is out completely, as I have seen fish with a length much wider width but the weight is calculated as the same, which cannot be true. What I want to ask the guys who are on this forum and use it extensively or have their own calculators, is the width of the fish taken into account, I personally believe that this is a crucial part of the calculation. After reading many posts with length to weight ratio estimates, I can only say that the ratio's are out, sometimes by alot sometimes, not so much.
